I’ve written other posts on the difficulties of conveying tone over the internet and I’ve long viewed the written exclamation point as useless, unless preceeded by an expletive. However, much to the chagrin of Strunk & White, it turns out inventing new punctation is possible. Google News just informed me of the SarcMark. My whole life I’ve been suffering with phrases like “lol,” “jk,” and “lmao.” Now I have punctuation which truly captures my dry sense of humor

It’s like how I say “JOKE” after every hilarious remark I make.
